9/28/24 | San Francisco Giants' Executive Expressed Regrets. Farhan Zaidi, President of Baseball Operations for the San Francisco Giants, is in danger of losing his job. On the "Tolbert & Copes" show, Zaidi talked about how he handled young players coming up through the system. There have been plenty of complaints in Giants world about this, whether it be the handling of Marco Luciano or Luis Matos, and Zaidi recognizes that. There are instances of them doing the 'sink or swim' that have worked out. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/giants/san-francisco-giants... |
9/27/24 | San Francisco Giants Top Prospect Working at New Position. Shortly after learning that Marco Luciano would once again be changing positions, the San Francisco Giants are going to be moving one of their outfield prospects to the infield. On the latest episode of 'Giants Talk' on NBC Sports Bay Area, insider Alex Pavlovic reported that Wade Meckler has been getting work at second base. Meckler is currently the 16th best prospect in the San Francisco system, according to MLB Pipeline. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/giants/san-francisco-giants... |
9/25/24 | San Francisco Giants Need To Get Over 'Mad Pursuit of Mediocrity'. The near-best case scenario for the San Francisco Giants over the final stretch of the regular season still doesn't paint an ideal picture of recent years. As The Athletic's MLB staff pointed out recently, the Giants are fighting for chance to do something that hasn't been done in almost a decade. With an undefeated record over their final five games, they could become just the second team since the 2013-2015 New York Mets to have a .500 record over a three-season span. "San Francisco's mad pursuit of mediocrity, after all, must be the reason they spent two weeks not playing Marco Luciano before sending him to the minors to work on his outfield defense, right," asked Tim Britton. 9/21/24 | How Marco Luciano has handled up-and-down rookie season with SF Giants. It was around this time last year that the Giants' top baseball official declared him their shortstop heading into this season. Marco Luciano is taking it all in stride. In a 10-minute interview prior to the Giants' series opener against the Royals, Luciano was courteous, diplomatic and professional, even if he had every right to be confused about the organization's handling of the player considered their top prospect since he was 17 years old. Only after being mathematically eliminated Sunday was Melvin comfortable inserting Luciano into the starting lineup, and only with Mason Black, not one of their premier starting pitchers, on the mound. 9/20/24 | San Francisco Giants Are 'More Confused' Than Ever About Young Shortstop. Among the many things that have gone wrong for the San Francisco Giants in 2024, the situation regarding Marco Luciano might be the biggest deal. Luciano, once viewed as one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball, has yet to find a consistent role at the Big League level. No matter the level of prospect he once was, asking Luciano to be a star when he's played in 40 games is an unrealistic ask. If the Giants don't understand that, there are even bigger issues on hand.
