Jerod Mayo wasn't at the helm of the New England Patriots when they made the head-scratching decision to select Tyquan Thornton in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. “I think there was a lot of love for Tyquan,” Mayo told reporters Wednesday, per team-provided transcript. Mayo took the high road, but his response wasn't convincing to even slightly change the perception of Thornton among Patriots fans.

Outside of trading edge rusher Josh Uche in late October , the New England Patriots held serve at the trade deadline in spite of possessing numerous tradeable assets on their roster. 11/18/24 Former Patriots receiver Tyquan Thornton signed to Chiefs practice squad. It didn't take long for former New England Patriots receiver Tyquan Thornton to find a new home. The Patriots draft bust will get a fresh start with the Chiefs, reportedly signing with Kansas City's practice squad on Monday. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was first to report that Thornton had found a new home with Kansas City on Monday afternoon. Thornton was released by the Patriots on Saturday after two-plus seasons in New England.
