12/26/24 | Former NFL star Mayes pulling for Panthers' Hubbard to break his NFL rushing mark. Long the standard by which Canadian running backs are measured in the NFL, Rueben Mayes is hoping Chuba Hubbard can set that bar even higher. In 1986, Mayes became the first Canadian to rush for over 1,000 yards in an NFL season, running for a career-best 1,353 yards (over 16 regular-season games) as a New Orleans Saints rookie. On Dec. 8, Hubbard became the second Canadian to crack the 1,000-yard plateau and needs 159 yards in the Carolina Panthers' final two regular-season games to surpass Mayes' single-season mark. 12/24/24 | Chuba Hubbard key to struggling Carolina Panthers (admittedly rare) NFL wins. Canadian-Nigerian running back Chuba Hubbard was the outstanding African player in week 16 of the NFL season, with his two touchdowns again the difference between victory and defeat for the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers' 36-30 overtime triumph over the Arizona Cardinals was their fourth of the season, and all but the first of them would not have been possible but for Hubbard's crucial touchdowns. Week 16 was arguably the most productive of the season for players with African roots. Source: https://africa.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/43138345/c... |

12/22/24 | Chuba Hubbard's 21-Yard OT Touchdown Run Propels Panthers to Victory. Former Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard hadn't long forgotten what took place four weeks ago. Hubbard lost a fumble in overtime with the score locked at 23. The Panthers would have been in field goal range but eventually fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 26-23.
