11/05/24 Blue Jays lose three players in first moves of offseason. The Toronto Blue Jays were busy on Monday night. Less than a week after the 2024 MLB season ended with the Los Angeles Dodgers winning the World Series, the Blue Jays made nine transactions to kick off their offseason. Toronto saw one new player join the organization when they claimed RHP Michael Petersen off waivers from the Marlins.

9/11/24 Miami Marlins Claim Michael Petersen Off Waivers From Los Angeles Dodgers. The Miami Marlins claimed Michael Petersen off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who designated him for assignment on Sunday as one of two corresponding roster moves to selecting Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Ramirez has since been designated for assignment himself as the corresponding move to activating Yoshinobu Yamamoto off the 60-day injured list. Petersen signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers in January and he would make his MLB debut on June 18.

9/08/24 Dodgers Roster: Nick Ramirez Called Up, Justin Wrobleski Optioned. To Make room for Ramirez on the 40-man roster, Michael Petersen was designated for assignment. Ramirez rejoins the Dodgers for his second stint with the club after being designated for assignment on July 30.

9/02/24 Dodgers adjust pitching staff, recall RHP Michael Petersen. The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-hander Michael Petersen on Monday and optioned left-hander Justin Wrobleski to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Peterson, 30, made his major league debut June 18 and went 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA in nine relief appearances over two separate stints with the Dodgers earlier this season. Wrobleski, 24, was called up to face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday and was crushed for 10 runs on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

7/18/24 Dodgers option RHP Michael Petersen, begin roster maneuvers. The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned right-hander Michael Petersen to Triple-A Oklahoma City and outrighted left-hander Jose Hernandez to the minor leagues on Thursday. The moves could allow the Dodgers to activate right-hander Joe Kelly to the active roster. Kelly, who has not pitched since May 5 because of a right-shoulder strain, has made five rehab appearances in the minor leagues with manager Dave Roberts saying his return is imminent.

6/25/24 Dodgers rally behind bullpen after Bobby Miller exits early. Pitching in his home state for the second time this season, Miller lasted just two innings and now has a 19.63 ERA in Illinois (one start each at Wrigley Field and Guaranteed Rate Field). Miller's early departure turned Tuesday into an impromptu bullpen game and the Dodgers' relievers responded. Michael Petersen, Yohan Ramirez, Anthony Banda, Blake Treinen, Daniel Hudson and Evan Phillips stranded seven baserunners in seven scoreless innings, holding the White Sox hitless in five at-bats with runners in scoring position while protecting the one-run lead from the fourth inning on.

Like hundreds of professional players, Michael Petersen was looking for something to do, some way to keep in touch with baseball after Covid caused the minor-league season to be canceled in 2020. You go up there and you see all the coolers of beer and everyone's having fun.

Michael Petersen was one of the Minor Leaguers called up by the Los Angeles Dodgers amid a series of transactions due to injuries and an overworked bullpen. Petersen signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers during the offseason and has enjoyed an excellent year with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The most impressive aspect of his performance has been his 31 strikeouts this season, which translates to a remarkable 36.9% strikeout percentage. A 17th-round pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2015 MLB Draft, Petersen had spent his entire career in the Minors and never been called up to the Major League level before this season.
