3/10/25 New Orleans Saints first-year coach Kellen Moore comfortable with Derek Carr at quarterback. On the day Moore was announced as head coach, he said he first wanted to meet with Carr and get to know the quarterback, before any decisions were made. Having done that, Moore and Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis revealed at the Scouting Combine in February that Carr would start at quarterback in 2025. While calling the contract restructure the "business side of it," Moore said there's a belief that successful path can be created for Carr and the Saints offense, which last season averaged 320.1 yards per game (21st) and 19.9 points (tied for 24th).

3/04/25 Former Lions OC back on NFL coaching staff. A former Lions offensive coordinator is back in the NFL and back in the NFC. Scott Linehan was hired as a coach with the New Orleans Saints this week, according to a report from NewOrleans.football. Linehan will serve in an as-yet-unknown role under new head coach Kellen Moore. Linehan spent five seasons as the Lions' offensive coordinator under Jim Schwartz following his tenure as head coach of the Rams.

The New Orleans Saints are entering a new era with first-time head coach Kellen Moore leading the team, but a serious roster overhaul is likely upcoming. The Saints are dead last in the NFL in projected 2025 salary cap space, coming in at more than $52.5 million over the expected number. Part of the issue is quarterback Derek Carr, who's not only set to have the league's fourth-highest cap hit, but may not be in Moore's long-term plans at the position anyway. New Orleans also has some key pending free agents on defense, including 2021 draft picks Payton Turner and Paulson Adebo, and star EDGE Chase Young.
